William Stratton
William Elwood Stratton, 87, died Oct. 9, 2009, at the Hospice House in Stuart. He was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and moved to Stuart six years ago, coming from Annapolis, Md. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. Before retirement, he was an executive for the Red Cross and was assigned to Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. He was also assigned to many domestic natural disasters and also served in Algeria along with other International Red Cross stations in Europe and Africa. He was a member of the Unity Church in Stuart and a graduate of Earlam College.
